One shared page everyone you invite can see, and every photo from the day in one album instead of scattered across the room’s phones. Birthday, reunion, wedding, work party. This guide uses the exact button names you’ll see on screen.
The free iPhone and Android apps are the better way to host — full screen, photos you can save straight to your camera roll, and a notification as guests add theirs. It all works in a browser too.
This is the guide for Events: one gathering, up to 7 days. Longer than a week, or needs its own lodging and travel? That’s a Trip — and a Trip can be copied for next time, which an Event can’t. Each event gets built fresh.
1. Setting up
Tap “New event.” One question per screen:
- Name.
- Where.
- When — start date and time required. The end is optional and defaults to 24 hours; up to 7 days.
- Plan — pick a size.
No account needed to fill this in. “Create event” asks for your email, sends a short code, and signs you in. No password.
No code? Check your spam folder.
Picking a size
Every event starts free. More guests than the free size and you pay right after creating it — card in a browser, in-app purchase in the app. One-time, per event, and only the host pays.

2. Event details
Tap the “Event details” chip to edit the name, date and time, and venue.
- The “Where” field carries a “Map” button, so guests get directions in one tap.
- Under the guest list, a “Visible” / “Hidden” toggle. Hidden keeps guests from seeing who else is coming — useful for a surprise party. It lives in the event details, so anyone who can edit the event can flip it, not only you.
3. Inviting guests
Tap “Invite guests,” or the Share icon at the top. Three tabs: Invite, Share, Guests.
Hosts only. You or a co-host can invite. A regular Guest can’t — unlike a Trip, where any Traveler can.
Pick a role

Co-host is the exception: email only, no QR code, and only you can grant it. Type their address, tap “Email invite.” For everyone else, a QR code gets a whole room in at once.
Make a QR code
- On Invite, pick the role it should grant — Guest, Photos only or View only.
- “Create invite QR code or link” → “Show QR code.”
- “Print poster” makes a page with the code big enough to read across a room — tape it to a check-in table or a door. “Save image” saves just the code, for an invitation or a slideshow. There’s a copyable link too.
- One code works for everyone, scanned as often as you like.
- When you’re done, “Turn off this link.”
One code, one role. A code made for “Guest” always joins people as a Guest. Want some people limited to photos? Make a second code for “Photos only.”
What a guest does — print this next to the code
- Open your phone’s camera. No scanner app needed.
- Point it at the code and tap the link that pops up.
- The page already knows you’re joining. Tap “Email me a link to join.”
- Type your email address.
- Open that email and use the code or link. No account? One is created as you sign in — there’s no separate form to fill in first.
- You’re in, at whatever role the code grants.
It all happens in the phone’s regular browser — no download. Guests do sign in with an email, so it’s clear who added what. The app can be installed later from Profile → “Get the app.”
Or invite by email
Scroll to “or email it,” type the address, tap “Email invite.” It’s tied to that person and expires in 7 days. They tap the button (“Join the event,” “Join as co-host,” “Add your photos” or “Take a look,” depending on the role) and land straight in the event.
Managing guests
- Change access: Guests tab, dropdown beside their name.
- Remove someone: the trash icon. No confirmation — it’s immediate.
- See who’s coming: “See who’s coming” on the event page. Anyone can open it; email addresses stay visible only to you and co-hosts.
4. During the event
Guests and Photos-only can add pictures:
- Memories tab.
- “Start the album” — or + → “Memory” once there are photos in it.
- Take one, or pick from your library.
- Add a caption, your name for credit, a location if you like.
- “Add to Memories.”
View only can look and react, not add.
5. Ending and wrapping up
Ending it
Tap “End event now” — or “End event early” before the scheduled end. Did it by mistake? “Reopen event” undoes it, but only twice in the event’s lifetime, and only while the original end time hasn’t passed. After that there’s no way back.
What changes
Everyone except you and your co-hosts loses the ability to add photos or change anything. They can still look and still like and comment — that never locks. You keep curating.
Share the recap
On the Share tab, once the event has ended, tap “Create recap link” — a photo summary to send anyone who wasn’t there. Show it as a QR code, email it, or undo with “Revoke link.”
Can’t find it? The link doesn’t exist until the event is marked ended.
Getting the photos
On the recap page, anyone who was at the event — Guests and Photos-only alike — can tap “Download all photos” and get every original as a zip, not just what they saved themselves. View-only guests can’t.
